At least seven persons are confirmed dead in a petrol explosion in Nigeria's southeast, according to police.
Police spokesman Haruna Mohamed said the explosion occurred at the Amawbia roundabout in the town of Awka, the capital of Anambra.
"Seven persons were certified dead as at today at various hospitals by medical doctors while the only surviving victim was admitted at the intensive care unit of the University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi," Haruna told Anadolu Agency.
He said the victims' bodies were taken to various morgues in the capital. -
