President Barack Obama plans to host Afghanistan new unity government next month.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah, and key members of Afghani unity government will meet at the White House March 24.
"The two presidents will discuss a range of issues including security, economic development, and U.S. support to the Afghan-led reconciliation process," according to a White House press statement. "President Ghani's visit highlights the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation and the American commitment to our U.S.-Afghanistan strategic partnership to reinforce regional security and sustain the achievements of the last 13 years."
The meeting will be Ghani's first trip to the U.S. since the 2014 presidential election in Afghanistan.
Ghani and his delegation will also meet with Secretary of State John Kerry at Camp David in nearby Maryland.
Ghani replaced former President Hamid Karzai in the first democratic transfer of power in Afghanistan's history.
