Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen denied the claims that Kurban Kurbanov, who coaches Qarabag, was among the candidates for Beşiktaş's head coach position.
It was claimed that Beşiktaş, who parted ways with Sergen Yalçın, added Karabakh's successful coach Gurban Gurbanov to their list for the managerial position. An official and clear denial came from Beşiktaş regarding the rumors that the black-and-white management had made initial contact with the 54-year-old experienced coach.
DENIAL OF CLAIMS BY ÖNDER ÖZEN
Beşiktaş Sporting Director Önder Özen stated in an interview with Azerbaijani media outlet Telegraf that the claims are not true. Emphasizing that no names have been finalized yet in the search for a new coach, Özen said, "We have no initiative or interest regarding Gurban Gurbanov. Coach Gurban is a highly successful and respected figure. However, such a situation is not currently on Beşiktaş's agenda. The news has no connection with our club."
GURBANOV: 'MY CONTRACT CONTINUES'
Speaking after the match where his team Karabakh defeated Sumgait 4-3, Gurban Gurbanov also remained distant from the claims when asked about his future, reminding that his contract with Karabakh is ongoing. Gurbanov commented, "I have been here since 2008. My contract continues."
