THE NEW Indian Ministry of External Affairs has warned its citizens not to travel to Syria. A statement was made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding travel to Syria.
In the statement warning Indian citizens against traveling to Syria, it was also advised that those currently in the country should stay in contact with the Embassy. The statement further called on Indian citizens in Syria to leave the country at the earliest commercial flight. OPPOSITION HAS ACHIEVED SIGNIFICANT GAINSOn November 27, clashes began between the Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria. On November 30, anti-regime groups took control of most of the center of Aleppo from regime forces and established dominance across Idlib province on the same day. After intense clashes, the groups had taken the city center of Hama from regime forces on December 5. The anti-regime groups had begun to advance by capturing some settlements in the strategically important province of Homs, which opens to the capital Damascus. STRATEGIC CITIES ARE CHANGING HANDS ONE BY ONEOn December 6, military opposition forces launched an operation in Daraa province, near the Jordanian border, and after clashes, they regained control of the provincial center from regime forces. The entire Suwayda province in the south of the country also came under the control of opposition groups on December 7. In the Freedom Dawn Operation launched by the Syrian National Army against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in the rural areas of Aleppo on December 1, the district center of Tal Rifaat was liberated from terrorism.
