In a large-scale operation centered in Istanbul across 7 provinces targeting the Barış Boyun criminal organization, detention orders were issued for 54 people, including 6 lawyers, on allegations of manipulating the judicial processes of organization members. Teams conducting simultaneous raids on 113 addresses arrested 45 suspects, while efforts continue to capture 9 fugitives.

A new operation has been conducted against the criminal organization led by Barış Boyun, who is wanted on red notices and currently detained in Italy. Operations were carried out at 113 addresses across 7 provinces centered in Istanbul, and proceedings were initiated against 700 suspects. During the operations, detention orders were issued for a total of 54 suspects, including 6 lawyers, who were found to have prevented or manipulated the suspects' testimonies. 

MINISTER GÜRLEK ANNOUNCED

In a post on his social media account, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that street gangs and organized crime groups are structures targeting the nation's peace, the future of young people, public order, and the safety of cities, and expressed that they continue their fight in full cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Interior.

MAJOR OPERATION IN 7 PROVINCES

Gürlek reported that, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and in collaboration with the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, a simultaneous operation was carried out against an organized armed criminal group, whose leader is subject to a red notice and currently detained in Italy, centered in Istanbul and extending to Tekirdağ, İzmir, Siirt, Samsun, Tokat, and Şanlıurfa.

6 LAWYERS ALSO ON SUSPECT LIST

It was stated that within the scope of the investigation, operations were conducted at 113 addresses across 7 provinces against a total of 54 suspects, including 6 lawyers, who were assessed to have been involved in qualified robbery and threat crimes, attempted to prevent or direct the suspects from giving statements, and provided financial support to members of the criminal organization.

PROCEEDINGS INITIATED AGAINST 700 SUSPECTS

In his post, Gürlek noted that within the scope of the investigations carried out to date against the said criminal organization, proceedings have been initiated against 700 suspects, and indictments have been prepared and public lawsuits filed. He stated, "Our fight against criminal organizations will continue within the framework of the rule of law, through the determined, coordinated, and uninterrupted efforts of our judicial and law enforcement units."
