A large-scale operation was carried out in the early morning hours in Izmir against the terrorist organization ISIS. Detention warrants were issued for 27 suspects who were alleged to have engaged in propaganda for the organization on social media accounts and to have previously conducted activities on behalf of ISIS. In simultaneous raids, 26 people were taken into custody, and numerous digital materials and books subject to a collection order were seized at the addresses. Efforts continue to apprehend the 1 fugitive suspect.
In Izmir, 26 people were detained in an operation targeting suspects accused of making terrorist propaganda for the DEASH terror organization on social media and of having previously conducted activities on behalf of the organization.
An operation was carried out by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism (TEM) and Intelligence Branch Directorates, coordinated by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, to detect and uncover the activities of the DEASH terror organization. The operation, aimed at apprehending 27 suspects who were found to have made posts constituting DEASH propaganda on their social media accounts and to have previously conducted activities on behalf of the organization, was carried out simultaneously at 06:00 today.
ONE SUSPECT BEING SOUGHT
In the operation, 26 suspects were captured and taken into custody. During searches conducted at the suspects' addresses, numerous digital materials and books determined to be subject to a collection order were seized.
It was reported that efforts to capture the 1 fugitive suspect are ongoing.
