Operation 'Narkoçelik' in 19 provinces: 49 drug traffickers arrested.

Minister Yerlikaya stated that 49 drug traffickers were caught in the 'Narkoçelik-42' operations conducted by the Gendarmerie in 19 provinces and that 22 of them were arrested.

49 DRUG TRAFFICKERS CAUGHT

According to the information shared by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, 49 suspects were caught as a result of operations carried out in Diyarbakır, Istanbul, Ankara, Van, Samsun, Erzurum, Manisa, Artvin, Ardahan, Antalya, Balıkesir, Siirt, Tekirdağ, Karaman, Gaziantep, Edirne, Aksaray, Kahramanmaraş, and Hakkari.

While 22 of the suspects were arrested, judicial control measures were imposed on 3 of them. The procedures for 24 suspects are still ongoing. Additionally, as a result of the operations, 1 ton 971 kilograms of narcotic substances, 4 million 389 thousand cannabis roots, and 267 thousand 593 narcotic pills were seized.

Minister Yerlikaya reported that during this cabinet period from June 4, 2023, to September 30, 2024, a total of 62 thousand 132 operations were conducted. As a result of these operations, 42 thousand 908 suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 18 thousand 718 of them. In these operations, a total of 163.7 tons of narcotic substances, 79.5 million narcotic pills, and 261.4 million cannabis roots were seized.
