After Besiktas eliminated Hradec Kralove in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round, the UEFA country coefficient rankings were updated. Turkey maintained its 9th place with 47.975 points and seized an important opportunity to widen the gap with its closest follower, Czechia.
In the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round second leg, Beşiktaş hosted Hradec Králové at Tüpraş Stadium. The black-and-whites won the match 1-0 with a goal scored by Vaclav Cerny in the 40th minute. Having also won the first leg by the same score, Beşiktaş advanced to the play-off round with a 2-0 aggregate victory.
4 TURKISH TEAMS IN EUROPE
With this result, it was confirmed that Turkey will be represented by at least 4 teams in the league stages of European competitions. Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor will compete in the league stage in Europe. Among the Turkish representatives that started the European season, only Başakşehir was eliminated from the tournament.
Beşiktaş won all 4 of their qualifying matches, while Fenerbahçe remained unbeaten in their 4 qualifying matches, recording 3 wins and 1 draw.
IF FENERBAHÇE ELIMINATES LYON, 2 TEAMS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Turkey has a significant opportunity ahead in terms of rising in the country coefficient rankings. If Fenerbahçe eliminates Lyon in the play-off round, Turkey will be represented by two teams in the Champions League for the first time in many years. If Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor also advance past the Europa League play-off round, Turkey will gain a strong representation advantage in both the Champions League and the Europa League.
OPPORTUNITY TO EXTEND THE GAP WITH CZECHIA
Czechia is Turkey's closest follower in the country coefficient rankings. It has been confirmed that at least one Czech representative will compete in the Conference League.
Beşiktaş eliminating Hradec Králové, a direct Czech representative, also provided Turkey with an advantage in the race.
Despite losing one team with the elimination of RAMS Başakşehir, Turkey has the opportunity to extend the gap with Czechia and Poland through the results of its remaining representatives.
