Over 120 Syrian Police Cadets Sworn İn

15.12.2017 15:28

Turkey trained cadets to ensure security in Cobanbey town of Syria’s northeastern Aleppo province.

More than 120 Syrian police cadets trained by Turkey have been sworn in on Friday in Cobanbey town (Al-Rai in Arabic) of Syria's northeastern Aleppo province.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Selcuk Aslan, deputy governor of Kilis, said that 128 Syrians including four women were trained with the aim of providing safety and security in the territory that was freed from Daesh terror group in Euphrates Shield Operation last year.

Affiliated to the Syrian opposition, the police forces got one-month training on ensuring public order, close follow-up, and to combat terrorism, Aslan said.

Turkey has so far trained around 6,000 Syrian police to ensure security in the Euphrates Shield Operation area.

The operation began in August last year to tighten border security, eliminate terror threat along Turkish borders and support opposition forces in Syria. Free Syrian Army was backed by Turkish artillery and jets as a part of the operation.

Since the civil war erupted in Syria in 2011, Cobanbey had been controlled by Daesh terrorist group. -
