CHP leader Özel responded to President Erdoğan's words, "As the Commander-in-Chief, I am addressing you. Watch your step; if you don't, we know how to make you pay for it." Özel said, "What are you going to do? Are you going to send tanks to your party's front? Or are you going to unleash the mafias you are in cahoots with against us?"
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at a meeting held by Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding his candidacy for the presidency.
"ARE YOU GOING TO UNLEASH THE MAFIA ON US?"
Responding to President Erdoğan's words, "As the Commander-in-Chief, I am addressing you. Watch your step; if you don't, we know how to make you pay for it. You will know your limits," Özel said, "What are you going to do? Are you going to send tanks to your party? Or are you going to unleash the mafias you are in contact with upon us?"
"WE WILL ELECT A PRESIDENT WHO EMBRACES THE COUNTRY"
Özel also touched on the upcoming election process, reminding that on March 23, CHP members will determine the presidential candidate. Özel stated, "We will elect a president who will protect Atatürk's legacy, safeguard the rights of the people, care for the poor, and embrace the country."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had used harsh words regarding the retirement of Lieutenant General Tevfik Algan, the Chief of General Staff of the Land Forces, who voted 'no' on the expulsion decision concerning the expulsion of 5 lieutenants and 3 commanders from the Turkish Armed Forces.
Özel said, "I know what you are doing, Land Forces Commander Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and Naval Forces Commander Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and I am telling you what I told Hulusi Akar. You are a person who has received not the prayers of your friends, but their curses. I know who the Naval Forces Commander wants to replace, who he is digging a pit for, and how he incited the expulsion of the lieutenants with a psychological war that could be called unconventional warfare. I know how the Land Forces Commander has been applying mobbing. I hear it from my comrades. I am noting this down to hold you accountable when the time comes," he had said.
