Özgür Özel, who started the Southeast tour, held his first press conference in Diyarbakır. Giving messages regarding the Kurdish issue, Özel once again pointed to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) as the address for a solution. Evaluating MHP Chairman Bahçeli's call to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Özel stated that a problem cannot be solved with one person's statement and said, "It is not the state but the Kurds who will decide whether there is a problem for the Kurds."

Özel, who drew attention with his statement "I raise my hand, Mr. Devlet. I also offer a state to the Kurds" during yesterday's party group meeting, clarified these words as well. In his statement regarding the issue, Özel said, "I said I promise a state to the Kurds; there is a malicious mind that seeks help even from the part of the sentence up to here. I propose that the Kurds have equal, non-discriminatory citizenship in the Republic of Turkey, feeling completely like members and owners of it, and that they feel equal citizenship with 86 million, and that the Republic of Turkey is also their owner along with us," he stated.
