Özel said, "I didn't do it to Espresso; Varank did. The owners say that whenever Varank came here, he drank coffee. After that, these things happened. Espresso Lab was not on our list. Our boycott was limited."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda on Habertürk TV. Following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, Özel made a striking statement regarding the famous coffee chain Espresso Lab, calling for a boycott.

"I WILL REMOVE THEM IF THEY OFFER A DISCOUNT"
There are cafes in the canteens of foundation and state universities that sell the modest coffee loved by these young people at reasonable prices. They say they came here, rented these places, and significantly increased the coffee prices. The young people were upset about the modest tradespeople leaving. They would already boycott in their own way. Thousands of students jumped in and came here. CHP members first came from Vatan Security. All university students came. Am I going to break them over this? When Espresso Lab reached out to us, I said, 'Make the young people's hearts happy, and I will remove you from the list.' I will remove them if they offer a discount. The young people were conducting a consumption boycott."
