Özgür Özel, who was temporarily removed from his position as Chairperson of the CHP by the court, came to the Turkish Grand National Assembly and made statements. Speaking about the congress and holiday program, Özel said, 'There is a demand both within the group and in society for the CHP to hold a congress within 40 days. If it doesn't happen, we will do whatever we can. Instead of staying in a room here during the holiday, we will be in the field. Essentially, we are in the squares, on the streets.'
In his statement at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Özgür Özel said, "There is a demand both within the group and in society for CHP to hold a congress within 40 days. ÖZEL: CONGRESS MUST BE HELD WITHIN 40 DAYS
Özgür Özel, who was temporarily removed from his position as CHP General Chairman by court order, came to TBMM after addressing CHP members in the Parliament Park adjacent to the TBMM.
Entering the Parliament through the Çankaya Gate, Özel stated, "To avoid turbulence here tomorrow, I was elected as group chairman through an election yesterday. There is a demand both within the group and in society for CHP to hold a congress within 40 days. The delegates are the same delegates. They authorized me with full votes. There is social tension here. It rejects coups. I stood on the side of democracy on July 15. On March 19, when Ekrem İmamoğlu was targeted, I stand with the people."
"WE WILL BE IN THE FIELD AT THE HOLIDAY"
To the question "What will you do if the congress is not held?", Özel replied, "The Political Parties Law and the party charter grant us certain authorities. We will collect signatures. Whatever we can do, whether through an extraordinary Party Assembly or through decisive measures, we will do."
When asked, "What will you do at the holiday?", Özel said, "Instead of staying in a room at the holiday, we will be in the field. We are essentially in the squares and on the streets."
Özel then moved to the General Chairman's office in the CHP Group. There, the name 'CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel' was observed.
"A CONGRESS IS NOT EXPECTED IN THE NEAR FUTURE"
Meanwhile, in a claim made by TGRT Ankara Representative Fatih Atik, he said, "A congress is not expected in the near future. Kılıçdaroğlu will lead CHP into the elections. He will not be the presidential candidate."
Additionally, Özgür Özel, who spoke with Kılıçdaroğlu on the phone the previous day, briefed the crowd gathered in front of the CHP Headquarters. Özel reported telling Kılıçdaroğlu, "I have no concessions. We want the ballot box as soon as possible, we want the congress."
GÜRSEL TEKİN: GRAND CONGRESS IN 7 MONTHS
A statement regarding the much-anticipated elective congress in CHP also came from Gürsel Tekin, known for his closeness to Kılıçdaroğlu. Speaking to Sözcü, Tekin said, "There is no chaos. A new congress will be held in Istanbul," while also noting that preparations for an extraordinary congress would begin shortly and that the process would not be prolonged. Additionally, Tekin stated that CHP's elective grand congress would take place in seven months.
