Twenty-six vehicles belonging to Özkan Yalım, who was arrested within the scope of the 'bribery' investigation and suspended from his duties as the Mayor of Uşak, and his companies, have been put up for sale by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). The total estimated value of the vehicles, which include luxury brands worth millions, exceeded 53 million liras.

A new step has been taken in the legal process regarding the assets of former Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was arrested and sent to prison in March within the scope of the 'bribery and corruption' investigation. Yalım, who became a 'confessor' in the ongoing investigation and whose additional statements were taken multiple times, had vehicles belonging to his companies, to which trustees were appointed, put up for display by the TMSF.

53.2 MILLION ASKED FOR VEHICLES

It was announced that a total of twenty-six vehicles, twenty-one belonging to Yalım Petrol Ürünleri Turizm Otomotiv Ltd. Şti. and five belonging to Yalımlar Tekstil İnşaat Ltd. Şti., would be sold through open tender and auction methods. The sales list includes notable luxury cars such as the Mercedes G 400 D, Audi A5 Cabriolet, and Tesla Model Y, while it was stated that the total appraised value determined for the vehicles exceeds 53.2 million TL.

VEHICLES HAVE LIENS ON THEM

According to the information reflected in the tender file, the extensive vehicle fleet offered for sale consists of cars, motorcycles, trucks, tractors, tankers, and semi-trailers. Among the vehicle brands are Mercedes, Audi, Tesla, BYD, Honda, Yamaha, Iveco, Ford, and Kassbohrer. In the TMSF's statement, it was emphasized that a significant portion of the vehicles has seizure annotations placed by tax offices and the Social Security Institution (SGK). Additionally, it was shared with the public that all vehicles carry a record of deprivation of rights regarding the establishment of the "Yalım Group Commercial and Economic Integrity."

The bidding period for the sale of the vehicles will end on August 10 at 16:00. The eagerly awaited tender process will take place on August 11 at the TMSF's headquarters building in Esentepe, Istanbul. The tender for five vehicles belonging to Yalımlar Tekstil will be held at 13:30, and the tender for twenty-one vehicles belonging to Yalım Petrol will be held at 14:10. WHAT HAPPENED?

Özkan Yalım, who was dismissed from duty, was arrested on March 31 on allegations of duplicate invoicing in tenders given by the municipality to companies and receiving the difference as a "bribe." He was subsequently expelled from the party on May 2 by the decision of the Republican People's Party Supreme Disciplinary Board. Yalım's allegations in his statement to the prosecutor, seeking to benefit from effective remorse, had landed like a bombshell on the political agenda. In his statement, Yalım drew attention with the words, "At that time, I gave money to Özgür Özel, who was the CHP group chairman, as 200 thousand TL and 1 million TL in cash. I left the 200 thousand TL money in a bag on the wall of the garden for Özel to pick up." Also speaking about the VIP vehicle allocation, Yalım made allegations stating, "I remember that 25 thousand Euros and VAT were paid for the conversion process of a vehicle belonging to Uşak Municipality, and 170 thousand Euros and VAT were paid for the conversion processes of the vehicle allocated for Özgür Özel's use." Responding to these heavy accusations in no uncertain terms, Özgür Özel denied the process with the words, "It is said, 'No, the Uşak Municipality bought us a VIP vehicle'; however, it turned out that all of these were lies. In the end, we paid for the vehicle's invoice and the accessories ourselves."
