17.12.2018 13:13

PM Imran Khan’s invitation comes during his meeting with Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu in capital Islamabad.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Pakistan, an official said.

Khan extended his invitation for Erdogan during his meeting with Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu at the prime minister's office in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Pakistan's Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi was also present at the meeting.

Khan expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey.

"Pakistan and Turkey have always stood by each other and Pakistani government would further strengthen its ties with Turkey," Khan added.

Soylu, for his part, assured that Turkey will provide all possible support for Pakistan.

He also invited Khan for a visit to Turkey.

Soylu -- who is on an official visit to Pakistan -- congratulated Khan on his being elected the prime minister and assuming the office, according to a statement by prime minister's office.

Earlier on his arrival to Islamabad, Soylu was warmly welcomed by Afridi at the Islamabad airport. -
