Pakistani Police Officer Found Dead İn Afghanistan

Senior police officer Tahir Khan Dawar had been missing since Oct. 27.

A senior Pakistani police officer, who was allegedly kidnapped from the country's capital Islamabad last month, has been found dead in eastern Afghanistan, a statement said on Wednesday.



Tahir Khan Dawar, a superintendent of police in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, had gone missing from Islamabad on Oct. 27.



According to the statement by Pakistan's Foreign Office, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Pakistani Embassy in Kabul that a body was found in Dur Baba district of Nangarhar province.



"The Afghan side has confirmed that the service card of Superintendent of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Mr. Tahir Khan Dawar has also been recovered with the body," the statement said.



The body is yet to be received by the Consul General of Pakistan in Jalalabad and would be subsequently transferred to Pakistan via Torkham border, it added.



Dawar, was known as bold and brave police officer who had carried out hundreds of counter-terrorism operations against militants in northwestern Peshawar city and other adjoining areas.



He survived in two suicide attacks carried out on his convoy in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. -
