Palestinian Arrested İn Vehicular Attack On Israeli Police

Israeli police arrested a Palestinian teenager on Sunday suspected of running over three Israeli policemen in Jerusalem the previous night, local media has reported.



"An Israeli force arrested a Palestinian teenager from Al-Tur [neighborhood] suspected of running over three policemen in Jerusalem," Israeli Channel 2 "ed an unnamed police source as saying.



The suspect was transferred for questioning by the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security agency, the channel said.



Eyewitnesses, meanwhile, told The Anadolu Agency that the Israeli police have intensified its presence across Jerusalem in the early hours of the day.



On Saturday, police spokeswoman Luba Samri announced that three policemen were injured in a vehicular attack in East Jerusalem's Al-Tur district.



Recent months have seen an uptick in violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, which has led to deaths and injuries on both sides.



Several Israelis have been killed or injured amid increasingly frequent Palestinian attacks.



Israeli forces, meanwhile, continued to carry out raids on West Bank villages, frequently rounding up groups of young Palestinian men on claims they are "wanted" by Israeli authorities.



Israeli troops also typically use force to disperse weekly Palestinian demonstrations against the self-proclaimed Jewish state's decades-long occupation, which occasionally leads to fatalities among protesters.



Palestinians, meanwhile, decry frequent attacks by extremist Jewish settlers on their communities and property in the occupied territories.
