"Penalty for the religious merchant selling 'Martyr's Scent' perfume! Here is the amount he will have to pay."

The Deputy Minister of Trade, Mahmut Gürcan, announced that a fine of 52,800 TL was imposed on the business selling the 'Şehit Kokusu' perfume. The Advertising Board also decided to temporarily suspend the related advertisements due to the exploitation of the national and spiritual sensitivities of the society.

Another merchant exploiting religious and national sentiments has been added. In a video that surfaced on social media, a person announced that he sells 'Martyr's scent', 'Badr scent', and 'Capital scent'. The individual also stated that he sells 'Mevlana scent' and directed those who want to order from afar to WhatsApp.

MINISTRY HAS TAKEN ACTION

Mahmut Gürcan, the Deputy Minister of Trade, announced that a monetary fine was imposed on the business selling the perfume named 'Martyr's Scent' in response to the highly criticized images.

"HAS EXPLOITED NATIONAL AND SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITIES"

In a statement made on social media regarding the issue, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan said: "An official investigation has been initiated by our Ministry regarding the statements on the Instagram account named 'selamesans_selamcarsaf' that have been the subject of news on various social media platforms and websites, which stated 'we prepared from Martyr's scent'. Due to the exploitation of the national and spiritual sensitivities of the society, the Advertising Board has decided to temporarily suspend the mentioned advertisements for a period of 3 months, and this decision has been officially communicated to the relevant individual through the Istanbul Trade Provincial Directorate.

A FINE OF 52 THOUSAND LIRA WAS IMPOSED IN THE FIRST STAGE

The mentioned posts will be discussed at the first meeting of the Advertising Board on 8/10/2024, and an administrative monetary fine of 550,059 TL, as stipulated in Article 77/12 of Law No. 6502, may be imposed on the advertiser. Additionally, the Istanbul Trade Provincial Directorate has imposed an administrative monetary fine of 52,800 TL due to the violations detected during the inspection conducted today at the advertiser's workplace under the 'Price Tag' regulation specified in Article 54 of the Law on the Protection of Consumers No. 6502."
