Turkish police have seized around 1.35 million roots of cannabis and over 974 kilograms (2,148 pounds) of marijuana in an operation in southeastern Turkey, officials announced Wednesday.
The operation -- which started late Monday, and ended late Tuesday -- was conducted by gendarmerie command teams in the Diyarbakir province, according to a written statement from the provincial governor's office.
Four suspects were detained as a result of anti-terror and anti-drug operation in seven different points of the province, it added.
"The operations carried out in order to ensure public peace and security in the region and to combat terrorism are continuing with growing tenacity and determination," the statement read. -
