President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan went to New York City, USA, to attend the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) and to hold various meetings. Erdoğan also visited the Türkevi with his wife, Emine Erdoğan.

A large crowd welcomed President Erdoğan in front of the Türkevi. It did not go unnoticed that former Central Bank President Hafize Gaye Erkan was among those welcoming him.

SHE WAS THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF THE CENTRAL BANK

Hafize Gaye Erkan, who was the first female president of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, had resigned from her position at the beginning of February. Her assistant, Fatih Karahan, was appointed as her successor.

IT WAS ALLEGED THAT ERDOĞAN PROMISED A NEW ASSIGNMENT

It was noted that during President Erdoğan's farewell meeting, he told Hafize Gaye Erkan to "wait for after the elections," suggesting that he would offer her a new assignment after March 31.
