President Erdoğan, speaking after the NATO Summit in Ankara, was asked about Trump's latest F-35 statement and the question "There is an S-400 obstacle to getting the F-35, how will you overcome this?" Erdoğan responded to this question in a single sentence, saying "Keep watching us." Erdoğan's words received applause from the hall.
President Erdoğan made statements at the closing of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government hosted by the capital Ankara.
ERDOĞAN'S BOLD ONE-SENTENCE RESPONSE
Asked by the press about US President Trump's recent remarks on the F-35, President Erdoğan was questioned, "There is an S-400 obstacle to acquiring the F-35, how will you overcome this?"
Referring to the critical procurement process and the diplomatic traffic between the two countries, President Erdoğan responded to this tough question with "Keep watching us."
"TRUMP HAS A POSITIVE APPROACH"
Continuing his remarks, Erdoğan stated, "Trump has a positive approach regarding the F-35s. When delivered, the world will say 'the US kept its word'."
TRUMP: I AM POSITIVE
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the same issue, noted that the F-35 dialogue between the two allied countries continues, using positive language about the aircraft's technology and Turkey's request. Trump recorded the following on the matter:
"We also discussed the F-35 issue. I think it's the best fighter jet in the world, and everyone wants it. We need to decide who to give it to. I am positive."
