After the overthrow of the 61-year Baath regime in Syria, a new era has begun. In the last 15 days, more than 25,000 refugees have returned to Syria from Turkey, and the movement continues, albeit slowly.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who made statements during a live broadcast regarding the return of Syrians in Turkey, also brought up an instruction given by President Erdoğan.
"3 ENTRY-EXIT RIGHTS WILL BE GRANTED"
Minister Yerlikaya announced that, with President Erdoğan's instruction, between January 1 and July 1, 2025, each family of Syrian refugees will be granted 3 entry-exit rights.
"WE MADE SUCH A DECISION SO THEY CAN PREPARE THEIR HOMES"
Yerlikaya's statements on the matter were as follows; "We are authorizing 2 gates. Those who will go from these 2 gates will be able to go and return. One individual from each family will be able to make 3 entries and exits until July. We made such a decision so they can prepare their homes there."
"NEARLY HALF OF THOSE WHO LEFT ARE FROM ALEPPO"
Currently, we have facilitated voluntary returns at 6 border gates. Naturally, the most populated provinces were the ones people left from, with the most coming from Gaziantep. Since most of those returning are from Aleppo, nearly half of those who left are also from Aleppo.
"THERE ARE OVER 200 THOUSAND VEHICLES"
Regarding voluntary return, there is the question 'What should we take with us when we go?'. Will they be able to take household items? We said, 'They should take everything they have in their homes.' Because they have no means there. They had entered our country with carts... There are a little over 200 thousand vehicles. We said they should be able to take these there as well. 'I will only use this vehicle in Syria from now on' is how they register."
