While claims that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will not hold a congress soon and wants to lead the party into elections under his own leadership remain on the agenda, Özgür Özel made striking statements in response to the question, "What will be done if the congress is not announced?" Özel said, "We will increase social pressure. We will collect signatures, we will call the Party Assembly to an extraordinary meeting." His words, "Our main work is on the streets," also drew attention.
The congress debates that started in the CHP after Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returned to the general chairmanship are getting increasingly heated. While claims that Kılıçdaroğlu does not plan to hold an extraordinary congress in the near future and wants to lead the party into elections under his own leadership remain on the agenda, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made striking statements.
CLAIM OF "NO CONGRESS" ON THE AGENDA
According to rumors circulating in Ankara backstage, it was alleged that Kılıçdaroğlu does not plan an extraordinary congress with elections in the short term. TGRT Ankara Representative Fatih Atik also stated, "A congress is not expected in the near future. Kılıçdaroğlu will lead the CHP into elections. He will not be the presidential candidate."
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: WE WILL INCREASE SOCIAL PRESSURE
CHP leader Özgür Özel drew attention with his response to the question, "What will be done if a congress is not announced?" Özel said, "We will increase social pressure. We will use all the powers of the Political Parties Law and the bylaws. We will collect signatures, and call the Party Assembly to an extraordinary meeting."
"IT WON'T HAPPEN THE WAY THE PALACE WANTS"
Continuing his statement, Özel said, "The CHP leadership is not a place to be held by grabbing and running away. It won't happen the way the Palace wants. We will be in the field during the holidays. From now on, when a roof is needed, it is the roof of that Assembly, but our main work is on the streets."
While congress debates continue in the CHP, it is assessed that the tension within the party may increase further in the coming days.
