Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin warned: Diabetes threatens 12% of the Turkish population.

General Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin, who was a guest on presenter Melis Yaşar at Haberler.com YouTube studio, stated that diabetes is considered as the disease of the era and that 12% of the 85 million population of Turkey is at risk of diabetes.

General Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin emphasized that diabetes has an increase rate beyond the predicted and said, "Diabetes is a problem of the era and it is increasing. It has an increase rate beyond the predicted. In societies, diabetes predisposition was expected to be around 8%. This figure has reached up to 20% in some societies, but generally the expected figure is around 12-15%. 12% of the 85 million population of Turkey is a population at risk of diabetes, which means approximately 10 million people in our country."

Answering the question of what are the symptoms of diabetes, Şahin said, "Eating a lot, urinating frequently, and drinking a lot of water. Generally, there are three main symptoms. In addition to this, blood sugar levels can occasionally drop. Problems such as excessive water withdrawal from the body due to the passage of sugar into the urine and frequent urination can also occur."
