Negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement affecting more than 600,000 public workers have begun. Türk-İş and Hak-İş presented the workers' demands for wage increases to the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan. The workers are demanding that the minimum wage be raised to 1,800 Turkish lira per day and that a 50% increase be applied to this amount for the first six months.

TÜRK-İŞ and HAK-İŞ submitted a draft containing a joint wage demand regarding the increase in public workers' salaries for the years 2025-2026 to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which will determine the increases in the Public Collective Labor Agreements Framework Protocol.

CONCERNS OVER MORE THAN 600 THOUSAND WORKERS

The 21-article demand draft, which concerns more than 600 thousand workers in public institutions and organizations, including highways, railways, electricity generation plants, ministries, universities, and hospitals, primarily demands that the daily minimum wage in the public sector be raised to 1800 lira. After the increase in the daily minimum wage, it was requested that a seniority raise be given to the workers, and that this amount be increased by 50% for the first 6 months of 2025.

The two confederations demanded a 25% wage increase for the second six months of 2025 and the first and second six months of 2026, along with an additional 10% welfare share for each period. It was requested that if the demanded wage increase rates remain below inflation, the resulting inflation difference should be paid to the workers.
