Question from Uncle Salim Güran to the judge: Was Narin your daughter?

Question from Uncle Salim Güran to the judge: Was Narin your daughter?

09.09.2024 08:30

The number of detentions related to the Narin Güran case, whose lifeless body was found in the riverbed 19 days later and deeply affected the whole of Turkey, has risen to 24, and a detail that emerged days later caused a great uproar. It has been learned that the judge asked Salim Güran, Narin's uncle who is currently in prison, during the court process, "Was Narin your daughter?"

The investigation into the death of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district in Diyarbakır and whose lifeless body was found yesterday, continues by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The procedures of the 24 suspects detained as part of the investigation are still ongoing in the gendarmerie.

DETAILS CONTINUE TO BREAK HEARTS

As the search efforts continue, the details that emerged during the autopsy process of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in a sack in the Eğertutmaz Stream, continue to break hearts.

STRIKING INFORMATION IN LIVE BROADCAST

CNN TÜRK Istanbul News Director Nihat Uludağ, who shared the latest information about the course of the case in the program "Ne Oluyor", revealed for the first time that the judge asked Narin's uncle Salim Güran, "Was Narin your daughter?"

"THE JUDGE IS NOT MAKING AN ASSESSMENT HERE"

Uludağ continued his live broadcast as follows; "All of these are possibilities, I'm not saying they are true or false, but I don't disagree with Savaş Bey's thesis. We all know the judicial process, so why does the judge ask the uncle, 'Was Narin your daughter?' The judge does not make an assessment here. The judge takes the files in his hand, examines them, and asks questions in accordance with the file. The judge's question is not in his statement, but the uncle's statement is recorded. Did the judge do brain gymnastics like us here? I think this is not how the trial should be conducted under normal circumstances. I think this question is very important in that respect."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 21, when Narin Güran, who went to the Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, did not return home after the course, her family searched for her on their own. When no results were obtained from the search, Narin's father Arif Güran reported that his daughter was missing around 20.00 on the same day. As a result, search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village.

While the search efforts were ongoing, Narin Güran's brother E.G. (18) was detained due to bite marks on his arm. When it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E.G. was released.

Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village head) of the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was detained. Salim Güran, whose DNA samples taken from his car matched the DNA samples from Narin's clothes, was arrested for "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty".

The teams, who focused on the previously searched areas again, conducted a search in the Eğertutmaz Stream, located 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was killed and then thrown into the stream in a sack, which was covered with stones.
