In operations conducted in Istanbul, counterfeit money worth 3 million 600 thousand Euros was seized, and one person was detained. The operation was carried out by the Financial Crimes Investigation Department. OPERATION IN FATIH AND ZEYTINBURNU DISTRICTSTeams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Department of the Istanbul Police, coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, conducted work to prevent the crimes of "counterfeiting money and counterfeiting official documents" and to capture the suspects. Police teams obtained information about the printing of counterfeit money in the Fatih and Zeytinburnu districts as a result of field studies and closed-source research conducted in line with news about counterfeit currency circulating in social media platforms and national media. CHECKBOOKS ALSO SEIZEDAs part of the ongoing investigation, raids were conducted at 2 separate addresses identified in the Fatih and Zeytinburnu districts. During the operation, 3,000 pieces of counterfeit banknotes without watermarks marked with 100, 1,500 pieces of counterfeit banknotes marked with 100 and containing the watermark of Euro banknotes, transparent and matte molds with Euro watermarks, ultraviolet lights, printing machines, and checkbooks bearing the logos of private and state banks were seized. 1 SUSPECT DETAINEDA total of counterfeit banknotes worth 3 million 600 thousand Euros, ready to be printed and circulated, were seized for destruction, and 1 suspect was captured and detained during the raid. The detained suspect was taken to the police for questioning. The suspect's interrogation at the police is ongoing.
