While public transportation in Istanbul saw a 13% increase in fares, the starting fee for taxis became 30 TL and the per kilometer fee became 100 TL. Eyüp Aksu, the President of Istanbul Taxi Drivers Tradesmen Association, objected to the rate of increase and stated, "We do not accept this proposal that disregards the tradesmen. We cannot sustain our business with these costs." It was learned that the taxi drivers initially demanded a 30% increase, and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality raised their offer to 19%.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has decided to increase public transportation fares in its July meeting. Fare increases ranging from 13% to 20% have been implemented in Istanbul's public transportation. Accordingly, the full fare, which was 17.70 TL, has been increased to 20 TL, while the student fare has been increased from 10 TL to 12 TL with a 20% increase. It has also been decided to raise the monthly student subscription fee from 250 TL to 282.5 TL.

"WE WILL SHUT DOWN"

Changes have also been made in taxi fares. The taxi meter start fee has been increased to 30 TL, while the taxi per kilometer fee has been set at 100 TL. According to a report on CNBC-e, it has been announced that the proposal will be sent back to the subcommittee for further increase in the fare rate.

Eyüp Aksu, the President of Istanbul Taxi Drivers Tradesmen Association, objected to the fare rates. Eyüp Aksu stated, "We do not accept the proposal that disregards the tradesmen. We will shut down with these costs."

TAXI DRIVERS' PROPOSAL IS 30%

It has been reported that taxi drivers demanded a 30% increase, and the IMM raised its proposal to 19%. Due to the failure of negotiations, it is stated that the initial rate of 13% was accepted in the UKOME vote.
