Red Cross Chief To Visit Addis Ababa Next Week

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer is expected to arrive in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on October 28, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) said Tuesday.



"Maurer's visit will help further strengthen [the ERCS'] activities and exchange information," Solomon Ali, ERCS deputy executive secretary, told Anadolu Agency.



During the upcoming visit, Ali said, Maurer is scheduled to meet with top government officials, including Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, and officials from the African Union.



"It [Maurer's visit] will also enable him to identify areas which should be given prime attention in 2015," he added.



Maurer's upcoming visit to Ethiopia will be his third since he assumed the position in 2012.
