DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan answered questions from the press after his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
"FOR THAT CALL TO COME, THE DELEGATION NEEDS TO GO"
Bakırhan was asked about MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "We expect a call for disarmament to be made after the second call and the second visit." Bakırhan responded: "The words of Mr. Bahçeli are important. Problems cannot be solved by ignoring them. There are issues in Turkey such as the Kurdish issue, the Kurdish problem, and Turkey's democratization. I say these cannot be solved by ignoring them. Therefore, we do not know what kind of call will come from İmralı. For that call to come, the delegation needs to go. Those doors need to be opened. I think this needs to be asked a bit to the government, to the ruling party."
"WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE DELEGATION WILL GO TO İMRALI"
In response to a journalist's question, "Is there a schedule for the second visit to İmralı? When will the İmralı Delegation make a statement?" Bakırhan said, "We do not know when they will go to İmralı. We are also following it. I hope they go as soon as possible. It is also our request. If it has been said that there will be a statement, then they must also determine the date for making that statement."
"THE DELEGATION ALREADY HAS AN APPLICATION FOR THE SECOND VISIT"
In response to a question about whether an application had been made for the İmralı Delegation's second visit, Bakırhan replied, "A delegation is going. They already have applications."
"IF THE GROUND, CONDITIONS, AND CIRCUMSTANCES ARE SUITABLE, WE WILL MEET WITH EVERYONE"
Regarding the question, "Should we expect a meeting at the leadership level outside of the İmralı Delegation?" Bakırhan said, "We have said this before. If the ground, conditions, and circumstances are suitable, we will meet with everyone."
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
Speaking at his party's group meeting in the TBMM, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated, "We expect a call for disarmament to be made after the second meeting." In response, Bakırhan said, "The words of Mr. For that call to come, the delegation needs to go."
