Romanian director Cristian Mungiu won the Palme d'Or for his film "Fjord" at the 79th Cannes Film Festival held in France. Many awards, including Best Director, Jury Prize, Best Actor, and Best Actress, found their recipients at the festival.
At the 79th Cannes Film Festival held in France, the Palme d'Or was won by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu for his film 'Fjord'. The Best Director Award went to Spanish directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi for 'La Bola Negra', as well as Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski for 'Fatherland'.
JURY SPECIAL PRIZE WENT TO GERMAN DIRECTOR
The Jury Prize was awarded to German director Valeska Grisebach for 'L'Aventure revee'. At the festival, Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev was deemed worthy of the Grand Prize for 'Minotaure', while the Best Screenplay Award was won by French screenwriter Emmanuel Marre for writing the screenplay of 'Notre Salut'.
Belgian Emmanuel Macchia and French actor Valentin Campagne, who starred in the film 'Coward', were deemed worthy of the Best Actor Award. This year, the festival's Best Actress Award was received by Belgian actress Virginie Efira, who appeared in the film 'Soudain', and Japanese actress Tao Okamato.
HONORARY AWARD WENT TO BARBARA STREISAND AND JOHN TRAVOLTA
The Golden Camera Award was won by Rwandan director Marie-Clementine Dusabejambo for her film 'Ben'Imana', while the Short Film Award was given to Argentine director Federico Luis for 'Para Los Contrincantes'.
The recipients of the Honorary Award were American actress Barbra Streisand, New Zealand director Peter Jackson, and American actor John Travolta.
