As the eyes of the world are focused on how Russia will respond in the Israel-Iran war, a very stern warning has come from Moscow to Israel and the United States. The Kremlin stated that a possible intervention by the U.S. in the Israel-Iran conflict would escalate tensions. Russia also warned Israel to "immediately cease attacks on the Bushehr nuclear facility."

The Israel-Iran war continues on its seventh day with mutual attacks. While the U.S. does not hide its support for Israel, Iran's ally Russia is calling for restraint from both countries.

Recently, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Iran did not request military assistance from Russia, but emphasized that Moscow's support for Tehran is evident. Responding to journalists' questions, Peskov said, "Firstly, President Putin stated that Iran did not request military assistance. Secondly, even in the context of the agreement with Iran, there is no provision for military cooperation in such situations. However, our support is evident overall."

Peskov noted that Russia maintains its partnership with Iran and its trust-based relations with Israel.

WARNING TO THE U.S.

The Kremlin spokesman warned that a possible U.S. intervention in the Israel-Iran conflict would mean another 'terrible wave of escalation.' Evaluating Washington's potential involvement in light of U.S. President Donald Trump's statements, Peskov said, "This expands the geography of the conflict. We are hearing statements from Tehran, meaning this would be another terrible wave of escalation."

RUSSIA CALLS ON ISRAEL TO 'STOP'

Meanwhile, a later statement from the Kremlin said, "Immediately stop the attacks on the Bushehr nuclear facility."

MORE THAN 200 RUSSIAN TECHNICIANS WORKING AT BUSHEHR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Israel targeted Natanz and Fordo on the first days of the attacks, and today it struck the Arak Heavy Water Facility. Initial assessments indicate that there was no damage to the facility, and no nuclear leakage was detected.

Behruz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, stated a few days ago that there was minor damage to the Fordo Nuclear Facility in Qom following an Israeli attack, but no nuclear contamination occurred.

Kamalvandi also reported that following the attack on the Natanz Nuclear Facility in Isfahan, nuclear contamination occurred within the facility, but this contamination did not spread outside the facility.

Despite targeting these nuclear facilities, Israel is reportedly avoiding hitting Bushehr, where more than 200 Russian technicians are currently working.

PUTIN SAID THEY WOULD NOT LEAVE BUSHEHR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Russian President Vladimir Putin answered questions from the heads of leading news agencies yesterday during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

In response to Anadolu Agency General Manager Serdar Karagöz's question, "Do you have a support plan for Iran?" Putin stated that Russian engineers are assisting in the construction of two new reactors at Iran's Bushehr facility, saying, "We are in constant dialogue with our Iranian partners. Our experts are working in Bushehr, 250 people are there. We are not leaving there. This is support."

Putin also added that they had agreed with the Israeli administration on ensuring the safety of Russians working in Iran.

IMPORTANCE OF BUSHEHR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

The 1000 megawatt capacity nuclear power plant located in Bushehr province on the shores of the Persian Gulf began operations on September 4, 2011, initially producing 60 megawatts of electricity, and was increased to 940 megawatts in April 2012.

Former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced during his visit to Bushehr in January 2015 that the electricity production of the facility had increased to 3000 megawatts.
