"THE BALL IS IN THE AMERICANS' COURT"
Peskov evaluated Trump's statements regarding the Russia-Ukraine war to journalists in the capital Moscow. He explained that there are issues that the U.S. and Russia need to discuss regarding nuclear weapons control, stating, "In many respects, time has been wasted on this issue. Right now, the ball is in the Americans' court, who have halted all important contacts with us." Peskov emphasized that the legal framework for nuclear weapons control has been undermined by the U.S.
"PUTIN IS READY TO MEET"
Evaluating a possible meeting between Putin and Trump, Peskov said, "Putin is ready. We are waiting for a signal from the U.S. It's hard to predict. We will inform you as soon as there is any development."
"THE CONFLICT WITH UKRAINE IS NOT DEPENDENT ON OIL PRICES"
Peskov commented on Trump's statement that "the war in Ukraine will end if oil prices drop," saying, "This conflict is not dependent on oil prices. This conflict arises from threats to Russia's national security and the lives of Russians living in certain regions, due to the U.S. and Europe completely rejecting Russia's concerns."
"ZELENSKY CANNOT BE READY FOR AN AGREEMENT"
Commenting on Trump's statement that "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready for an agreement," Peskov said, "Zelensky cannot be ready for an agreement. Because negotiations need to be conducted to reach an agreement. Zelensky had prohibited negotiations by his own decree."
