Samsunspor President Yıldırım's outcry after the Fenerbahçe match.

Samsunspor President Yıldırım's outcry after the Fenerbahçe match.

21.10.2024 07:50

Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım made statements following the match in which they drew 2-2 with Fenerbahçe. Yıldırım said, "If Soner's shot had been on target in the last minute, it would have been 3-2. We believe a clear penalty was not awarded to us."

In the 9th week of the Super League, Samsunspor faced Fenerbahçe. The match, which turned into a goal duel, ended in a 2-2 draw. After the match, Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım made statements.

"WE DIDN'T GET OUR PENALTY"

Evaluating the match, Yıldırım said, "With the help of the Fenerbahçe press, for a month, the Turkish and Fenerbahçe media have been talking about this match. I took this as an opportunity. For an Anatolian team, gaining such importance and being talked about was marketing. I used this wisely. As for the match, our opponent is not Fenerbahçe, but as you saw today, we always said we go into every match to win. We play for 90 minutes running, and today we showed an example of that. If Soner's last-minute shot had been on target, it would have been 3-2. We believe we had a clear penalty that was not given to us." he said.

In the continuation of his statement, Yıldırım said; "I said that Samsunspor will never uglify the game, and we showed that today. After Fenerbahçe took the lead 2-1, the goalkeeper delayed the game, Dzeko's behavior while leaving, etc., Fenerbahçe felt the need to waste time to leave this match with a 2-1 victory. This made me happy, Samsunspor is on the right track. We played head-to-head with a budget 10 times larger. The goals we conceded were clearly due to our mistakes. The goals we scored were created by us. I congratulate everyone. Coming back from a defeat to achieve a draw is joyful for us. I will leave happy. The city is happy." he stated.

"WE SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST"

Finally, Yıldırım said, "We played well in the Beşiktaş match as well, we will come to Istanbul on November 10, and we will play like this in that match too. There should be no doubt about that. I am a Samsunspor fan, I support the club I own, and we play with the same desire against all teams, I wanted to clarify this. The Fenerbahçe press blamed me a lot. I cannot be of such character. We wanted to win very much, we wanted to maintain our second place. We should not have lost to Fenerbahçe to maintain our position. Today we did not lose, we are third, I wish we had won and become second again. It is not how we started, but how we finish that matters. Samsunspor will go step by step to the place it aims for," he said.
