Samsunspor, a Super Lig club, reacted to the appointment of Atilla Karaoğlan for the Turkish Cup quarter-final match, describing it as 'unacceptable.' In the statement, it was said, 'We expect the Turkish Football Federation and the Central Referee Committee to review this decision, which we believe is mistaken.'

Referee Atilla Karaoğlan, who officiated the Çaykur Rizespor-Samsunspor match played two weeks ago in the Süper Lig and made controversial decisions, has been assigned to the Samsunspor-Trabzonspor Turkish Cup quarter-final match to be played on Thursday.

SAMSUNSPOR'S REACTION TO ATİLLA KARAOĞLAN

Samsunspor reacted to the referee appointment by making a written statement. The announcement from the red-and-white club included the following statements:

''WE EXPECT THE DECISION TO BE REVIEWED AGAIN''

"We find it unacceptable that referee Atilla Karaoğlan, who, just two weeks ago in our match against Çaykur Rizespor, caused our Technical Director Thorsten Fink to receive a 3-match ban after showing him a red card with a controversial decision, has been reassigned to our Turkish Cup quarter-final match against Trabzonspor. While our Technical Director's penalty is still ongoing, the referee who caused this decision being on the field does not align with football's sense of justice. Despite the existence of a wide pool of referees, we inform the public that we do not find it right for the same person to be assigned to our match again before such a critical encounter. We expect the Turkish Football Federation and the Central Referee Committee to review this decision, which we believe is mistaken. Our club always upholds the principles of justice and equality in Turkish football, and we expect those who manage our football to understand this sensitivity of ours."

SAMSUNSPOR LOST THE MATCH 4-1

Samsunspor lost the match officiated by experienced referee Atilla Karaoğlan on April 9th, 4-1 against Rizespor.
