A 23-year-old female guard in England has been accused of having sexual relations with an inmate at the prison where she works. It is claimed that two inmates were on watch outside during the incident.
The guard, named Isabelle Dale, reportedly became close to Shahid Sharif, who was convicted of robbery, at Coldingley Prison in Surrey. Evidence presented in court showed that Dale was captured on security cameras adjusting her belt as she exited the mosque in the minutes following the incident.
Later, it was revealed that Sharif had sent a message to Dale saying, "It was nice to share our love today."
Sharif, who has a 12-year prison sentence, was transferred to Swaleside Prison in Kent after the incident. However, it is alleged that Dale visited him three more times in September and October 2022. Security cameras show the couple kissing during one visit.
The investigation also revealed that Dale sent flirty messages and photos from the prison's electronic system and even transferred £100 to the inmate.
Additionally, it was alleged that Dale helped smuggle envelopes containing the synthetic drug "spice" into the prison at Sharif's request.
Police found materials related to drug trafficking in the young woman's car, and at her home, they discovered an engagement ring that Sharif had purchased and photos of them together.
Even more surprisingly, messages have emerged indicating that Dale had a close relationship with another inmate as well. In one message, the young guard wrote, "Maybe you’re only interested in me because I’m a guard, but I don’t think you’re that kind of person."
Prosecutor Kieran Brand stated in court, "This case involves corruption within the prison, illegal drug trafficking, and abuse of power. Dale has engaged in a relationship with an inmate and has been involved in smuggling prohibited substances."
Dale from Portsmouth has denied the charges of "abuse of power" and "smuggling prohibited substances into the prison."
A woman named Lilea Sallis from East Sussex is also being tried on the same charges.
Inmate Sharif has admitted to the drug trafficking charges.
The trial proceedings are ongoing.
