Information has also been released regarding the identities of the two people who lost their lives in the attack. It was reported that one of the deceased was a male staff member at the school, and the other was an 18-year-old female student.
THE DECEASED STUDENT WAS THE SUSPECT'S EX-GIRLFRIEND
One of the striking details to emerge from the investigation was the connection between the suspect and the deceased student.
According to information conveyed by authorities, the 18-year-old female student who lost her life in the attack was the ex-girlfriend of the 19-year-old suspect who was taken into custody.
While the investigation launched by police teams following the incident continues, the reason for the attack has not yet been disclosed. It was also reported that examinations regarding the weapon used in the attack are ongoing.
PREMIER WOIDKE: A HORRIBLE ATTACK
Brandenburg's Minister-President, Dietmar Woidke, also made a statement regarding the events. Woidke described the incident as a "horrible attack" and offered his condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives.
Stating that the attack deeply affected not only those at the school but the entire state of Brandenburg, Woidke expressed his sorrow over the incident.
PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
Following the attack, action was also taken for the students and teachers at the school. The Brandenburg Ministry of Education announced that school psychologists would provide support to students and teachers to mitigate the effects of the incident.
It was stated that emergency spiritual and psychological support teams would also be on duty at the school again.
It was reported that shortly after the incident, an emergency support team of 8 to 9 people went to the school and spoke with students, teachers, and other individuals affected by the attack.
Stefan Baier, an official from the Brandenburg Emergency Support Team, said that the teams' main goal was to "create a safe space" for those affected by the incident.
