Before New Year's, a decision regarding school hours was made by the Istanbul Governorship. In a statement from the governorship, it was expressed that schools would close tomorrow at 16:00 due to traffic congestion and security reasons. EMPHASIS ON SECURITY MEASURESThe statement included the following expressions; "Due to the potential traffic congestion that may occur in our city on Tuesday, December 31, and the security measures to be taken, it has been decided that all public/private preschool, primary education, and secondary education institutions will complete their educational activities by 16:00." MEASURES BY IMM FOR NEW YEAR'S EVEOn the other hand, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has taken various measures to ensure that Istanbul residents spend New Year's Eve in peace and security. According to a written statement from IMM, teams have been assigned to provide uninterrupted service throughout the city on New Year's Eve, and necessary arrangements have been made for rapid intervention to needs. To meet the demand on New Year's Eve, additional trips have been planned for public transportation vehicles. While IETT will continue its services on 832 different lines with 64,000 trips on December 31, an additional 304 trips will be organized on 25 different lines on New Year's Eve. The uninterrupted night service of the metrobus system will also include 221 additional trips. Public transportation services affiliated with IMM will be free for personalized Istanbulkart holders for 24 hours on January 1, just like on religious and national holidays and official holidays. METRO LINES WILL OPERATE 24 HOURSIn Metro Istanbul, the M1A Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport, M1B Yenikapı-Kirazlı, M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman, M3 Bakırköy-Kayaşehir, M4 Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport, M5 Üsküdar-Samandıra, M6 Levent-Boğaziçi Ü./Hisarüstü, M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey, M8 Bostancı-Parseller, and M9 Bahriye-Olimpiyat lines will operate for 24 hours. The T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar, T3 Kadıköy-Moda, T4 Topkapı-Mescidi Selam, T5 Eminönü-Alibeyköy tram lines, as well as the F1 Taksim-Kabataş and F4 Boğaziçi University/Hisarüstü-Aşiyan funicular lines will continue their services until 02:00 on January 1. The City Lines will also arrange additional trips according to passenger density on New Year's Eve, December 31. Additionally, to prevent violations of consumer rights, begging, unauthorized advertisements and announcements, illegal excavation dumping, and unauthorized activities, municipal police teams will operate in shifts on New Year's Eve.
