Sedat Peker, who is alleged to have set a trap for Köfteci Yusuf, spoke for the first time.

10.10.2024 20:20

The fugitive crime organization leader Sedat Peker, who is in a legal battle for allegedly attempting to take over Köfteci Yusuf, a famous meatball seller, after reports emerged that he fed citizens pork, responded to claims that he set a trap for the famous meatball seller. Peker said, "What kind of Köfteci Yusuf is this, my friend? I'm starting to get tense. We donate as much as he sells every holiday. This man employs 12,000 people. Has the state caught these pork products?"

The list of foods that have been counterfeited and adulterated, regularly published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, keeps Köfteci Yusuf, who was revealed to have served pork to citizens, in the spotlight.

SEDAT PEKER'S ALLEGATION SPARKED CONTROVERSY

It was claimed that fugitive crime organization leader Sedat Peker, who is in a legal battle for allegedly trying to extort the famous meatball seller and is being tried alongside 19 non-arrested defendants, and his associates made allegations about "pork" regarding Köfteci Yusuf.

HE BROKE HIS SILENCE

Speaking to journalist Erk Acarer about the allegations raised by many users regarding the lawsuit process, Sedat Peker used striking expressions.

"HE CALLED ME ONCE BECAUSE HE HAD AFFECTION FOR ME, WE MET"

Peker said, "Every time Köfteci Yusuf was mentioned, it was amusing to hear my name. What kind of Köfteci Yusuf is this, my friend? I'm starting to get tense. Köfteci Yusuf called me once because he had affection for me, we met. I didn't even drink his tea. We donate as much as he sells every Eid."

"EVERY TIME IT COMES UP, I TREND TOO"

Whenever Köfteci Yusuf comes up, I trend too. What kind of nonsense is this? This man employs 12,000 people. Has the state caught these pork products?" he said.

THE HEARING HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO JULY

On the other hand, the next hearing of the "Köfteci Yusuf" case, in which a total of 19 defendants, including Sedat Peker, are being tried, has been postponed to July. It was decided to continue the arrest and red notice orders against Peker.

INVESTIGATION PROCESS

It was claimed that discussions were held for the sale of a meat integrated facility owned by Mehmet S. in Afyonkarahisar, which was put up for sale in 2017, to Yusuf Akkaş, the owner of the Bursa-based restaurant chain "Köfteci Yusuf," for 20 million lira through intermediaries. After Akkaş filed a complaint alleging that he was threatened due to the prolongation of the sales process, an investigation was initiated. Of the 19 suspects, who were alleged to have formed a criminal organization and were detained on July 6, 2020, 9 were arrested, and during the trial process, the arrested defendants were released. It was claimed that the defendants had connections with Sedat Peker. In the indictment prepared against the organized crime leader Sedat Peker, whose case was separated from the others, it was requested that Peker be tried for "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime and benefiting from the intimidating power created by the presumed criminal organizations."

In the examination of the phone of one of the defendants, Erhan K., it was reported that a recording of a phone conversation he had with Peker was obtained, and the transcript of the conversation was included in the indictment. According to the conversations, it was alleged that Sedat Peker gave instructions to defendants Erhan K. and Ahmet A. regarding a qualified robbery act against the complainant Yusuf Akkaş, and it was noted that images of fights that occurred at Akkaş's workplace were found on the phone of defendant Mehmet S. While the trial continued at the Bursa 5th High Criminal Court, the court decided to merge the case file with the one prepared by the Istanbul Anadolu 16th High Criminal Court. After the Istanbul Anadolu 16th High Criminal Court did not grant consent on this matter, the files were sent to the 5th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation with a request to resolve the merger dispute that arose between the two courts and to determine the venue for the trial. The Chamber decided that there was no need to merge the case in Bursa with the case of the Istanbul Anadolu 16th High Criminal Court, to revoke the merger decision, and that the trials should proceed based on each court's own files.
