Selçuk İnan's explosive reaction to Fenerbahçe fans.

Selçuk İnan's explosive reaction to Fenerbahçe fans.

02.12.2024 23:50

Gaziantep FK's head coach Selçuk İnan spoke after the match in which they lost 3-1 to Fenerbahçe. Thanking Jose Mourinho for his comments about him, İnan expressed his disappointment towards the Fenerbahçe fans, saying, "The Fenerbahçe supporters really upset me. Their collective insults... I have never disrespected Fenerbahçe. I played for Galatasaray for 10 years, won trophies, and served as captain. We cannot hide this, but we are fighting for the team we work for."

Selçuk İnan, the head coach of Gaziantep FK, who lost 3-1 to Fenerbahçe in the 14th week of the Trendyol Super League, stated that he was sad for losing despite their very good fight. İnan also expressed his reaction to the Fenerbahçe fans.

"THANKED MOURINHO"

Evaluating Jose Mourinho's words about him, Selçuk İnan said, "We conceded a goal from an individual mistake. When you make mistakes against such big teams in away games, it becomes difficult to come back. After going 1-0 down, our team dominated the game. We were the side that had more possession in the first half. We also found the goal. We had a few chances as well. For 75 minutes, we reflected everything we wanted on the field. I congratulate my players. We knew that Fenerbahçe was effective in set pieces, and we worked hard on that. They shouldn't have had that many corners. You work hard, but this is ultimately Fenerbahçe's away game. We conceded a goal from a set piece. I was sad. We had come this far. When it was 1-1, we also had counter-attacks. I congratulate Fenerbahçe. The first half went as we wanted, but they have an important coach at the helm, and they made significant changes. Thanks to Jose Mourinho. It's nice for him to say these things about me. He is someone I respect. His words are an honor. The part I care about is my team. We fought well, and we are progressing towards becoming a better team. Thanks to Mourinho as well," he said.

"WE CONTROLLED THE FIRST HALF"

Speaking at the press conference held after the match at Ülker Stadium, İnan emphasized that despite conceding a goal from an individual mistake, they controlled the game throughout the first half.

İnan, who stated that they were superior to Fenerbahçe in the first half, said, "I am sad because my players fought very well. At least we could have earned 1 point for this fight. We also equalized in the first half, but in the second half, with the inclusion of important players and the psychology of protecting the score, we withdrew. We could have created dangers from transitions, we found positions but couldn't convert them. We tragically lost this match for me with a goal that Fenerbahçe scored from consecutive corners because there was a good fight," he said.

"FENERBAHÇE FANS SADENED ME"

Selçuk İnan expressed that he was hurt by the reaction of Fenerbahçe fans, saying, "Fenerbahçe fans saddened me a lot. Their chanting curses all together... I have never disrespected Fenerbahçe. I played for Galatasaray for 10 years, won trophies, and captained the team. We cannot hide this, but we are fighting for the team we work for. We are doing a job, and sometimes my child is with me. It seems normal in our country for fans to curse all together. I have never disrespected Fenerbahçe fans," he expressed his reaction.
