SECRET BIRTH IN HOSPITAL TOILET
According to Mustafa Kadir Mercan's report; H.E.Y., who came to the emergency department of Erdemli State Hospital accompanied by her mother R.H., went into the toilet while waiting for an examination. According to the allegations, the young girl gave birth on her own in the toilet, and after cutting the baby's umbilical cord, she left the newborn baby girl in the trash bin and returned to her patient bed. Approximately half an hour later, the staff member who entered to clean the toilet noticed the baby in the trash bin and alerted the medical team. The baby, who was immediately intervened, was taken to the neonatal unit and placed under treatment in an incubator.
CAUGHT ON CAMERA FOOTAGE
After the incident was reported to the police, the hospital's security camera footage was examined. In the images, it was determined that H.E.Y., walking with the support of her mother, squatted down for a while and then entered the toilet.
ALLEGATION OF RELATIONSHIP WITH COUSIN
H.E.Y., who was treated in the hospital under police supervision for two days, stated in her initial statement that she left the baby in the trash because she experienced fear and panic. After the 16-year-old declared that the pregnancy resulted from a relationship with her cousin, a comprehensive judicial investigation was also initiated in this regard.
MOTHER RELEASED, 16-YEAR-OLD H.E.Y. ARRESTED
After her treatment at the hospital was completed, H.E.Y. and her mother R.H. were taken into custody and referred to the courthouse upon the prosecutor's order. The 16-year-old H.E.Y., who was brought before the criminal judgeship of peace, was arrested and sent to prison on charges of "attempted intentional killing." Her mother R.H. was released under judicial control. The investigation into the incident continues.
