CHILDREN STOPPED DURING INVESTIGATION

In Utica, New York, the police stopped two children on the street around 10:00 PM on June 28th as part of an investigation into an armed robbery.

SHOT WHEN PULLING OUT A GUN FROM HIS POCKET

While the police were questioning, one of the children started to run away. Three officers from the Utica Police Department chased after the child. The child, named Nyah Mway, pulled out a gun from his pocket while running away. The officers shot and incapacitated the child.

POLICE SHARED ALL RECORDS OF THE INCIDENT

In a statement from the Utica Police Department, it was said, "As can be seen in the body camera footage, when the officers tried to search Nyah Mway, he immediately tried to escape. While running away, he pulled out a 'replica' GLOCK gun from the front of his body and pointed it directly at Officer Patterson and the other officers in the 51st and 53rd seconds of Officer Patterson's body camera. In accordance with our commitment to transparency, we thought it would be prudent to share all the evidence we currently have with the public."

PROTESTS STARTED AFTER THE INCIDENT

During the examination, it was determined that the child's gun was "Fake". The shooting and killing of the 13-year-old child sparked protests. Hundreds of people protested the incident and demanded an end to police violence.
