On April 27, 2023, in Ataşehir, Helin Sülüktekin (31) had an argument with her husband Serkan Sülüktekin (33). Helin Sülüktekin called her relatives Mehmet and Şerife Kalkan. Mehmet and Şerife Kalkan went to the scene with their children Gernas and Ç. Kalkan. While Serkan Sülüktekin and Mehmet Kalkan were arguing, Serkan Sülüktekin's knife accidentally stabbed Gernas Kalkan (28) when his son Ç. Kalkan pulled his father back. Gernas Kalkan could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital.

The case against Serkan Sülüktekin, who was accused of causing the death of his brother-in-law Gernas Kalkan by stabbing him on April 28, 2023, was concluded at the Anadolu 14th High Criminal Court. In the decision hearing held yesterday at the 'Kartal Anadolu Justice Palace', the defendant Serkan Sülüktekin, who was tried for the crime of 'Intentional Murder', was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
