"Significant increase in returns from Turkey to Syria."

After the opposition groups in Syria overthrew the 61-year Ba'ath regime, Syrians living in Turkey began to return to their homeland. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the number of people returning to Syria in the last 15 days has exceeded 25,000, announcing that this figure has increased sevenfold. Yerlikaya also mentioned that Syrians wishing to return to their country are given appointments on the same day they apply.

On November 27, armed opposition groups led by HTS began their operations and advanced to the capital, Damascus, in just 12 days. With the entry of the opposition into Damascus, the 61-year Baath regime came to an end, and Bashar al-Assad fled the country to seek refuge in Russia.

The developments in Syria have turned the eyes of many towards the Syrians living in Turkey. After the fall of Assad, a large number of Syrians began to return to their country.

MINISTER YERLIKAYA REVEALED THE NUMBERS

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the numbers related to the return of Syrians during a meeting at the Anadolu Agency (AA) Editorial Desk.

THERE ARE 2 MILLION 920 THOUSAND 119 SYRIANS IN TURKEY

As of today, Minister Yerlikaya stated that the number of foreigners with legal residence rights in Turkey is 4 million 164 thousand 472, of which 2 million 920 thousand 119 are Syrians under temporary protection.

MORE THAN 25 THOUSAND SYRIANS RETURNED IN 15 DAYS

Minister Yerlikaya stated that since 2017, 763 thousand 443 Syrians have returned to their country voluntarily, safely, honorably, and in an orderly manner. Yerlikaya noted that the number of those returning to Syria in the last 15 days has exceeded 25 thousand, indicating that this number has increased sevenfold.

SAME DAY APPOINTMENT FOR SYRIANS RETURNING

Interior Minister Yerlikaya mentioned that Syrians wishing to return to their country can apply through the website of the Directorate General of Migration Management, and appointments are given on the same day.
