During a live broadcast, political scientist Prof. Dr. İpek Özkal Sayan's question, "Who ate cherries this year?" angered the President of the Turkish Press Federation, Sinan Burhan. Burhan responded with, "Frost occurred in 66 provinces. Don't attribute everything to the government. Did the government cause the frost too? What will they do, install air conditioning?"
In the debate program aired on TV100, a tension arose between political scientist Prof. Dr. İpek Özkal Sayan and the General Editor of Millet News Agency, Sinan Burhan.
"WHAT WILL THE GOVERNMENT DO, INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING?"
Sinan Burhan responded sharply to Prof. Dr. Sayan's remark, "Who ate cherries this year? I couldn't even see the cherries."
Burhan stated, "Professor İpek, there was frost in 66 provinces. You didn't eat apricots this year either. What can we do? There were no fruits in the country this year. Don't you have a garden? Did you have fruits in your gardens? Don't blame everything on the government. Did the government cause the frost too? There has been a disaster in 66 provinces, what will the government do, install air conditioning?"
Sayan defended her view by saying, "I just said it. I said there will be frost again. I said farmers need protection, they need insurance."
