According to the latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, a partly and very cloudy weather will dominate across the country. Heavy rain is expected in many regions, while snowfall is preparing to be effective in higher areas. For those expecting snowfall in Istanbul, impatience will continue for a while longer. Recently observed snowfall in the higher areas of Istanbul, particularly around Pendik and Kartal, does not represent a winter atmosphere that spreads across the city. Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that this situation should not be evaluated as a general snowfall. Şen said, "It is not correct to say that snow has come to Istanbul just because it snowed on Aydos Hill. When we talk about snow in Istanbul, we expect effective precipitation in areas like Levent, Aksaray, and Esenler," he expressed. NO SNOWFALL EXPECTED IN THE NEXT 10 DAYSAs the winter months approach, the expectation of snow among Istanbul residents is increasing, and new statements have come from Prof. Dr. Şen. Stating that air temperatures will rise to 15 degrees this weekend, Şen expressed that no snowfall is expected in Istanbul within the next 10 days. However, making a general assessment, he said, "The most likely snowfall for Istanbul could be seen in the last week of December or the first week of January." "COLD AIR WAVE WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN THE COMING WEEKS"Indicating that air temperatures, which are around seasonal norms, will show a temporary increase by the weekend, Şen stated, "Currently, temperatures are around 12 degrees. This weekend, we will see 15 degrees. However, this situation is not permanent; cold air waves will be effective in the coming weeks," he explained. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LAST WEEK OF DECEMBERAccording to Prof. Dr. Şen's predictions, the eyes are turned to the last week of December for effective snowfall in Istanbul. Şen said, "I expect a normal winter across Turkey this year. However, effective snowfall in the city center of Istanbul could surprise us towards the end of the year," he stated.
