30.04.2024 20:57

Artists to present digital art pieces conveying messages on planetary conservation, power of personal choice, freedom of self expression, technological advancement.

The third LUNAR Light Festival of Bulgaria is set to illuminate the capital city of Sofia from May 9-12.

More than 20 Bulgarian and international artists will transform the heart of the city into a massive and dazzling open-air gallery during the art event that features three-dimensional projections and light installations.

Light shows will be presented at 23 points along the 4.5-kilometer (2.8-mile) route in the city center and its vicinity for four nights.

Building facades, parks and open spaces will be transformed into screens and performance stages.

Artists will present digital art pieces conveying messages on themes such as planetary conservation, the power of personal choice, freedom of self-expression and technological advancement.

A parallel program will include complimentary educational sessions designed to offer fresh insights into the realm of contemporary audiovisual arts, facilitating knowledge acquisition for attendees.

Organizers said the LUNAR Light Festival is being held in collaboration with "Festival of Lights International," one of the world's premier light festivals.

The festival, poised to redefine the city's nocturnal ambiance, will receive institutional and financial support from Bulgaria's European Parliament Office, European Commission Representation, Sofia Municipality and Bulgaria's National Culture Fund.

The LUNAR Light Festival, which offers free admission, has been held in 2022 and 2023, with each edition attracting more than 450,000 visitors.

Artists from more than 15 countries have showcased their works, transforming the city's evenings with their creations. -
