Some Of COVID-19 Vaccine Data Leaked Online: EU Agency

12.01.2021 19:12

Necessary action being taken by law enforcement authorities, says European drugs regulator.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Tuesday said some documents related to COVID-19 medicines and vaccines have been leaked on the internet.

Law enforcement authorities have been taking necessary action, the agency said in a statement.

"The Agency continues to fully support the criminal investigation into the data breach and to notify any additional entities and individuals whose documents and personal data may have been subject to unauthorised access," it added.

On Dec. 9, EMA announced it was subject to a cyberattack without providing additional details.

The European agency has so far approved the use of COVID-19 vaccines developed by PfizeR/BioNTech and US biotech firm Moderna.

In a statement on Dec.14 after being informed about the cyberattacks, Moderna said its submission to the EMA did not include any information identifying individual study participants. -
