Fenerbahçe Football Team Doctor Ahmet Kulduk announced that a cartilage lesion was detected in the MRI of the injured Marco Asensio and that he will undergo surgery next week.. Asensio is expected to be away from the pitch for at least 2 months.
Fenerbahçe Football Director Oğuz Çetin and Fenerbahçe Football Team Doctor Ahmet Kulduk made statements about the injured Marco Asensio.

ASENSIO WILL UNDERGO SURGERY Fenerbahçe Football Team Doctor Ahmet Kulduk, stating that a decision had been made for Asensio to undergo surgery, used the following statements: "Coach Oğuz already explained up to the MRI part. We managed the swelling and pain process with rehabilitation. When the process extended somewhat, we had an MRI performed. As a result of the MRI, we detected a cartilage lesion behind the kneecap. According to our assessments, this cartilage lesion was a lesion that needed to be corrected with surgery. For this, we also sought different opinions. We consulted with Prof. Dr. Ömer Taşer from Turkey, as well as with Asensio's doctor in Spain, who has been his doctor for many years and also performed his previous surgery. They said they were more or less of the same opinion. When the player's wish and opinion were also in this direction, we informed both Coach Oğuz and Coach İsmail and planned the surgery. We will have performed Asensio's surgery next week." he said.
''A DECISION MADE DUE TO THE CARTILAGE LESION'' Continuing his remarks, Ahmet Kulduk commented: "Neither the knee injury and cruciate ligament strain that occurred in last year's Beşiktaş match, nor the upper muscle injuries this year, were injuries requiring surgery. Neither we nor any other doctor or medical team has so far established a surgical indication. The surgical situation was a decision made for the first time due to the cartilage lesion we most recently detected. In the previous situations, no surgery decision or surgical indication had been determined by either us or anyone else."
