Strasbourg-Based Ngo Slams French Magazine Le Point

25.05.2018 14:13

Le Point slandered Turkish president and targeted institutions of different cultures.

A Strasbourg-based non-governmental organization (NGO) accused a French magazine, which recently came under fire for insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of misleading public opinion.

"Foundations, broadcast organizations and political groups active in France which represent different cultures were targeted in May 24 issue of Le Point magazine," COJEP International said on Thursday.

The magazine discredited the efforts of COJEP, Media Turk TV, Media France TV and Media Turk Info.

"An example of irresponsible and hostile journalism, far from reality, has been exhibited. In this issue, Le Point tried to silence, suppress and alienate the different cultures in France," the NGO said.

"Its efforts to discredit Media France and Media Turk Info, which works with volunteers and limited resources, have shown that they are the real supporter of dictatorship.

"Le Point has turned into a propaganda tool by demonizing and discrediting Mr. Erdogan deliberately," the statement read.

Erdogan is being targeted by western media with its speculative headlines, the NGO said.

Le Point this week put Erdogan on its cover with the label "dictator."

"Erdogan is Nelson Mandela of the 21st century," the NGO said, adding that he was the one who protected the holy city of three religions, Jerusalem.

"He hosted 3.5 million Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Syrian refugees. He urged for a change in the structure of the UN Security Council by saying: 'The world is bigger than five' in the UN General Assembly.

"Is this merciful and just person a dictator?"

The NGO demanded an apology from the magazine. -
